Residential Cookery Course Discover the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire whilst having daily cooking lessons. Redhill Manor, dating from the 1860s, is set on the Lydney Park Estate where Tolkien was inspired to write "The Hobbit" and where remains of a Roman villa and temple can be found. The manor, which overlooks the River Severn, offers you an atmosphere of quiet relaxation, within easy reach of London and the West by road and rail. The cookery courses we offer are for enthusiasts of all skill levels from beginners to those with more experience. Itineraries are tailor made, including activities such as walking, gardening, golf, visiting local producers and so forth depending on your interests. A typical weekend would include dinner upon arrival on Friday evening, watching demonstrations on Saturday before guests prepare both lunch and a three-course dinner, with the assistance of chefs; with Sunday continuing in a similar manner. Our evening meals will be an example of how to entertain with confidence and style, where the emphasis will be placed on the importance of advance preparation. You will be taught how to cook using your intuition, without unnecessary weighing and measuring, and be given tips on how to plan a menu and present food with ease and imagination. You will prepare food inspired from around the world, and taught how to use fresh herbs and spices to their best advantage. The fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown organically in Redhill Manor's garden to ensure freshness and quality. Classes have a maximum number of six participants, which means you will be given full individual attention by our chefs and all your culinary question will be answered. Prices are £250.00 per person which includes: -
